17” tall bronze candlestick
I understand I’m not a poet. With that said, I wrote the following while sculpting this bronze candlestick with over 50 figures, faces and other elements spiraling up through a Star of David and a receptacle of light. Truth be told, I’m feeling more exposed today than when I sculpted this piece 15 years ago.
Haunted;
I feel a suffering people;
Their eyes, windows to their souls;
Blinded in shock;
Blinded in horror and disbelief;
I remember.
A history of humanity within;
Events and emotions buried deep;
Confused and alone, I feel away from home.
Guilt and shame of the raped;
Exposed as an animal in fear;
I remember.
A flow of generations before my eyes,
Of suffering, the spotlight is now on me,
To my children and ancestors, what do I owe?
For me to fear not, let go and be,
A gift to the world to be set free;
I Remember.

Six sculpted bronze candlesticks, Potomac MD Yom Ha'Shoah (Holocaust Memorial Day)
I cast a total of six of these pieces and loaned them to suburban communities outside Chicago, Baltimore and Washington DC for their annual Yom Ha'Shoah (Holocaust Memorial Day).
